OpenSuse 10.3 on a Dell D820

Switching off a laptop LCD while in runlevel 3

I use a Laptop as a Server (for Power consumtion reasons).

The system of course run in Runlevel 3. But without any X present the
LCD is never put to sleep by the xScreensaver.

To do this manually you can use the vbetools:

vbetools dpms off turns the screen off ...
